Problem: With new guidelines coming out for CCPA, (California Consumer Privacy Act), we were given the task of making sure consumers had the resources through our site.
Process: After researching CCPA, and material UI patterns/guidelines for displaying important information, it was narrowed down to having a simple toast on the Home Page. This was presented to the stakeholders and was approved for launch after guidance from engineering in handoff.
Solution: A toast notification would inform users of new guidelines, and was determined to be the best place to have this project live within the site with how important it was. If a user wants to have their personal information deleted, opt-out of selling, or requesting their personal data that has been collected or shared, we created simple form fields matching the design system and legal criteria. Also, we included an updated privacy policy in case users had any additional questions. This project was a great exercise in working with legal, Project Owners, team leads, in finding a middle ground on required information and helping to match our design guidelines for toasts and how we display form fields and how they function for the site.
